Site Mission Statement
Somali Community Online is a new an innovative web site created by Haringey Somali Community and Cultural Association (HSCCA). The site is first of its kind in terms of content, look and the target audience it seeks to reach. The site aims to become the first port of call for authoritative, relevant, culturally appropriate, accessible and accurately translated information on issues of interest to the Somali community and others interested in or working with the community. It also aims to act as a powerful tool that promotes the rights of and provides a voice for Somali speaking people.
The site aims to inform and empower Somali Community about their rights and responsibilities and to stimulate and encourage a dialogue between the Somali community and service providers and with other communities. The site aims to create a bridge of mutual understanding between communities and contribute to community cohesion and good citizenship.
The site aims to enable the Somali community to influence and contribute to the development of policies and services that affect their lives.
Organisation Mission Statement
Our mission is to help the Somali Community strive towards becoming economically stronger, educationally achieving higher, mentally & physically healthier, socially more confident, professionally better skilled, politically more powerful, culturally more respectful, towards others and themselves, and above all better integrated within the mainstream society.
Aims & Objectives
To relieve poverty, particularly amongst persons of Somali origin in Haringey, by the provision of advice, information and support in the area of welfare benefits, health, housing and training.
To advance education particularly of persons of Somali origin in Haringey, by the of language and literacy classes, and by the promotion of the educational needs of Somali people within the host Community, and in such other charitable ways as the committee may determine from time to time
